  • Profile

The gentle, creative artisans, are at the heart of every aspect of Siham Craftlink. We work closely alongside the different artisans and designers whilst at all times upholding all the ethics of fair trade.

We feel  privileged and honoured working with fair trade organizations and the artisans in Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Peru and Pakistan. The artisans enthusiasm, their beautiful inspiring hearts, their love of creating glorious products for our Australian customers to enjoy,  their absolute joy when receiving continuous orders – makes every aspect of our fair trade business an absolute pleasure.

Siham Craftlink was founded in 2000. Today many of the artisans that we work with are the same artisans that we made the connection with all those years ago.  We have witnessed first hand the value of fair trade. We have seen families lives change. We have seen children educated, we have seen living standards rise, we have seen abandoned and disadvantaged women beaming with pride as they learn new skills, we have seen nutrition increased, we have seen the hope , joy and dignity for the artisans that fair trade gives.  Siham Craftlink is a family business and we have raised money for an emergency fund for the artisans working at Artisans Effort, Kolkata. Last year lives were saved because this money was readily available. We have also assisted financially in the building of a school at Asansol, west of Kolkata.

Siham Craftlink works directly with many of the talented designers and artisans creating new products. A diverse range of  multicultural educational resources in learning centres around Australia have been created by our talented artisans.  Traditional skills such as block printing, weaving,  macramé, different embroideries , crochet , patchwork , metal work and wood work are used to develop  glorious and unique home décor accessories. Handmade papers created from jute pulp, water hyacinth plants ( an environmental pest),  cotton pulp ( textile remnants ) and bamboo threads,  make exquisite journals, papers and decorative adornments.  Unique recycled products are made from vintage saris, food packaging , ornate textiles and newspaper. Fashion accessories with that extra fair trade flair are created from hand woven textiles, by screen printing, rich embroideries, leather and applique. Every item is created by hand and every item has a powerful story to tell. The story of each item is both from the artisan who created the fair trade item, and the technique and story about how the item is made.

“We cannot recommend Siham Craftlink highly enough. Our orders are processed efficiently and the products are exquisite, well crafted and very reasonably priced.” The Elephant Basket

“We have found Siham Craftlink to be helpful, efficient and courteous. Products arrive promptly, are securely packed and are of the highest possible quality.” Ethos Fair Trade
