An upcycled crate shelfie & a sifter turned shadow box!

A quick upcycling post for your Monday arvo!

When I was at my parent’s beach shack recently, we went through a very old, very rickety shed they have there and pulled out some treasures. One was a vintage fish crate from Safcol, which would have been an original from the 1960’s I think, and came with the shack when they bought it over 35 years ago.

My dad spent ages cleaning it up for me and today, we installed it in our kitchen. I didn’t take any before cleaning shots, but really other than a clean and a few nails here and there to make sure the metal bands would not stick out and jag anyone, it is just how it came.

Then on the Garage Sale Trail on the weekend, one of my treasures was a beautiful country sifter, which I have hung on the wall as a shadow box shelf. I love it.

What do you think? Have you ever found a treasure like this, long forgotten and what would you do with a crate or a sifter like this?
